Personal Project: Beauty and The Beast Portrait Session

I'm double posting today because it's HALLOWEEN! Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. I love the magic and whimsy, the costumes and decorations, the celebration of your inner child! 

So when Travis, a friend from my Charleston Fashion Week days, reached out to see if I was interested in collaborating on a Halloween portrait session with local makeup artist Kala Kannisto and the talented Georgia, I was thrilled! 

This charming crew brings their skills together each year in a just-for-fun photo session, and this year's theme was Beauty and The Beast. 

Y'all, you have no idea how much work went into Travis' makeup! Kala is a wizard, so head on over to Instagram to follow her latest creations, and Georgia is an amazingly talented dancer, so be sure to keep up with her as well. 

The best part? This creative collaboration was the gift that kept giving. As we were wrapping up our photography playtime, a group of kids on the neighboring playground spotted our models and lost their MINDS. They lined up along the fence cheering for Belle and Beast, and before we knew it, Georgia and Travis were posing for photos with all the kids on the playground! 

Spreading smiles is always the best part of my job, and it was such a heartwarming reminder of the importance of sowing a little magic, positivity, and whimsy as you move through your day-to-day routine. You just never know when you might make some kids' day!
