If you've never been to Kiawah Island, I'm here to tell you there is an incredible magic to this place.

Kiawah Island is one of the smaller Sea Islands, located just off the coast of Charleston, SC. The Sea Islands are a chain of barrier and tidal islands off the coast of the Southeastern United States, spanning from the mouths of the Santee and St. John's Rivers, and they boast a culture entirely their own.

Kiawah Island's beautiful sandy beaches are flanked by picturesque dunes that give way to ancient live oaks filled with Spanish moss, and some of the most gorgeous private homes you've ever seen. It's luxury living at its finest! The island is home to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and the world-renowned Ocean Course. It's no wonder that this gorgeous place is a beloved vacation spot, and guests end up returning year after year. (It's also where I do most of my family portrait sessions these days!)

I got the opportunity to do some Charleston branding photography out on Kiawah last month, and it was a dream. My client's property offers sweeping views of the marsh, and there is no pool I'd rather float around in while watching the herons and egrets come and go as the day passes by.

They put me up for the night in this AMAZING house, and it was such a treat to actually enjoy some time on Kiawah Island without a camera in hand. Don't get me wrong, I usually prefer to have a camera in hand... but there's nothing wrong with trading it for a glass of wine with great company and a killer sunset every once in a while!
