Folly Beach Family Photography: The Shoemakers

Happy (almost) New Year! Is anyone else ready to burn their calendar and move on?!

If there’s one good thing that’s come out of this challenging year of 2020, I think it’s that we all appreciate our time spent with loved ones just all that much more.

I think we’re focusing on quality time, on being present, and on leaning into an appreciation and fondness for the little quirks that make family, well, family. I think when we hug, we hold on a little tighter, and when we laugh, we laugh a little louder and a little longer.

Every family session I’ve done this year has been so full of genuine warmth and emotion, and this Folly Beach family portrait with the Shoemakers was certainly no exception, as you can probably tell from the photos! 

This sweet crew was a blast to work with, and, of course, it didn’t hurt that their Folly Beach rental home was positively amazing - like, should be featured on HGTV. 

After some photos on the epic porch and its beautiful swinging day bed, we headed out to the beach for a few portraits and some candid-style images… which is always my favorite! 

I hope that when the Shoemakers look back on this crazy, stressful year, they remember the love and laughter shared in that gorgeous house by the sea, and I hope they’ll enjoy these photos for years to come.
