I'm behind the lens at the Charleston Wine + Food Festival right now, and it has me reminiscing about all my favorite festival work before the pandemic kicked off! Today I'm sharing one of my favorite moments as an Asheville event photographer: The Noble Dirt Brunch at Chow Chow Asheville.

This gorgeous brunch was everything you could want from a foodie event: a stunning locale, an impeccably set yet approachable table, and delicious eats. Gaining Ground Farm hosted this event at Chow Chow Asheville, and their 70 acres of family farmland is nestled in a valley in Leicester, NC.

Gaining Ground Farm is host to a herd of Red Devon cattle, a Jersey milk cow, a flock of chickens, and several acres of vegetable-growing bottom-land. Their healthy, environmentally conscious approach to farming yields tasty, nutrient-rich vegetables that are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and synthetic herbicides or insecticides.

Guests couldn't help but fall under the spell of this amazing and functional property with views of the mountains, and the showstopping florals by Lady Luck Flower Farm only added to the morning's magic.

Guests enjoyed beverages and bluegrass music before settling in at the elegant farm table in front of the rows of crops! Then they were treated to a family-style meal from some of the area's finest restaurants with carefully matched wine pairings. Each dish was introduced by the master chef who created it, and everyone dug into their brunch with gusto.

I hope the photos do this magical experience justice! The mountains are my other home (we divide time between Charleston and Lake Lure), and it was such a pleasure to tell the story of this enchanting brunch experience.

It feels so good to gather again, especially in the name of fine dining and craft beverages. In the words of the festival, we truly are "better together".
