Kiawah Photography: Hardy Family Session

Summer is coming, which makes this Kiawah photographer's heart sing!

Summer on Kiawah means one thing: family portrait season. As families gather and spend a week of fun in the sun at the resort, it's only natural to want to capture some of that joy and sunshine in a lasting family portrait.

So, today I'm sharing one of my favorite Kiawah family sessions from last year: the Hardy family! This sweet family gathered for an epic family vacation, and an epic 4th of July-themed photo shoot was at the top of the agenda.

I am so obsessed with the babies' smocked American flag outfits - probably because my mom handmade an entire wardrobe of smocked clothing for me when I was that age. I also love how well the Hardys planned their outfits! The red, white, and blue theme came together in a fun way that's both festive and sophisticated... and just so quintessentially summer.

After we knocked out some more traditional shots of the various family groups, we let the kids just be, well, kids. And I have to say, the bubble machine was quite a hit. I absolutely recommend bringing one to your next family portrait if there are kids under the age of five!

It was also so heartwarming to watch how excited this family was to be all together after the distance created by the pandemic. I know that I, for one, will never take being able to see my family and give them giant hugs on a whim for granted ever again!
